I had a colonoscopy today with sedation. I was feeling relaxed about the procedure and expected some discomfort but was not prepared for how painful it was. It was so painful that I wonder if the sedation worked as I didn't feel tired or zoned out at all. If it did work I hate to imagine how much worse it would have been as it was almost unbearable. It was the nurse /junior doctor (I don't know what her position was she was just introduced by name) that got me through it. She let me hold her hand and comforted me whilst I was crying out in pain, I can't tank her enough. I consider my self a matter of fact type of person who just gets on with things you have to do so I don't understand why my experience was so painful compaired to most people (so it seems) that have some discomfort that passes quickly. Mine was very painful throughout.
