Had enough - still waiting for biopsy results

Hi, posted a couple weeks ago about waiting for biopsy results that my consultant has sent to another hospital. I'm stuck suffering while they take their sweet time, I've been back and forth to doctors and hospital because I can't bloody breathe! I'm so breathless and just can't catch my breath but nothing is getting done until these results are back, lymphoma was mentioned at scan but nothing more has been said I'm just left to struggle breathing and I honestly don't think I can do it anymore I'm struggling so bad, have been for 2 month :(

  • I'm sorry to hear you're still waiting for your biopsy results Lauranicole.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer now but as it's been a while you could try and see if your GP can chase this up for you.

In the meantime, if you're having difficulty with your breathing don't hesitate to give 111 a call or if things get really bad, to go to A&E.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi I've been to a&e 3 times now, sent home with no help, probably been to the doctors about 10 times and had the same results there, don't know what else to do

  • Hi Lauranicole,

It is normal to wait about 2 weeks for biopsy results, but if they have to be sent to another hospital, this can take a bit longer.

I am sorry to hear about your breathing problems, despite seeing your GP and attending A & E many times in the interim.

The only thing I can suggest is to contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). They offer confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. They can be contacted at your local hospital. Your nearest office can also be contacted via the NHS website, or your GP Surgery & Hospital. You can also phone NHS 111 for details.

As Steph says, don't be afraid to contact 111 or to return to A & E, if you are having difficulty breathing.

I hope that you get taken seriously soon. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
