Hello,
I'm only 35. I have been to the breast clinic a total of 4 times since I've been in my 20's with different reasons. I've recently been referred to the family history clinic and told I've moderate -high risk of developing breast cancer. Before examining my breasts they discussed my options. Different medications I may wish to take once I turn 40. They said I will receive a mammogram each year from the age of 40 and if I have any issues before that with my breasts I'm put down as 'fast track'.
Once they examined my breasts before I went for my baseline mammogram they found another lump near the armpit area and told me I'll be sent an appointment for a biopsy and ultrasound for that. I then proceeded to my mammogram.
I got a phonecall 5days after my mammogram for an appointment with the consultant to discuss my results. I wasn't expecting to be seen by a consultant (I've seen consultants over the years) because I've been taking care now by the family history nurse, I was only awaiting an appointment for my biopsy and ultrasound. So the be all and end all is, I'm quite anxious about this appointment, which is this coming Friday the 2nd of December and I don't know what to expect. Is this routine?
