Lump and waiting ultrasound

Hi

I have a palpable lump in my armpit for about 7 to 8 weeks if not longer. I went to gp and was told its likely a cyst and had antibiotics for a week. No change went back and saw a different GP and was told its likely a lymph node and she could feel others in the same armpit.

Now been referred for ultrasound but while I'm waiting I have been in increasing pain. Gp said unlikely cancer as doesn't hurt but im scared. Any advice

  • Hello lkkin101

I'm sorry to hear that you're waiting for an ultrasound on some swollen lymph nodes at the moment. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for tests and appointments can be difficult. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face and often it can leave you feeling anxious and worried. Sometimes it can help to talk things through and I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our nruses for some reassurance. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your appointment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi thanks. Been back to Gp again today due to pain, fatigue and poor appetite increasing.

Now had a second breat exam and been referred under the 2 week cancer pathway to the breast clinic. Back to GP on Wednesday for bloods too. I just feel odd yet not sick it's weird. I've only just turned 33 and am a single mum. I know its unlikely to be serious like cancer but now the words been said twice im stressing alot.
