Colonoscopy prep

Hi I'm 34 male weight is normal - I go gym most days , I'm on 2ww for a colonoscopy, I had 3 lots of bloods done all came back fine, 2 stool sample same but calprotectin slight raised, my fit test score came in at 16.4 so not too raise but enough to put me on to further investigation/ scope.
I have had sligh blood on 4 times but Only when i wipe and stool go from fine to slightly loose - tend to have a bit of mucus on stool. No lose of weight, or any persist pains. Start prep from my scope tomorrow. Any advice would be great. Cheers

  • Hi DONN123,

Im also in the similar situation. Fit 16 and on 2ww refereal.

    My colonoscopy on 3rd december.

As per suggetions on the other post,

    1. Drink it cold

    2. Use some ice pops or mix it with other clear drinks

    3. use straw .

Btw, did you follow No fibre diet before 7 days

    thanks.

  • Hi abnormal-fit

I'm following it now been on it since Thursday-till tomorrow last meal is 1pm the I have to fast for 24 hours my scope is Tuesday 2:15pm.

with regards to the fit test - we are basically at the same number . I feel at ease with what I have read (still get a wobble every now and then!)

My symptom- seem minimal 4 times I've seen blood when wiped since august - some loose stools and and mucus occasional too.

My Dr did mention about IBD earlier in the process when I did original stools.

this page has been really good when your going through this waiting stage . Hope your doing okay

    Don

  • Yup, I had panic attack when I heard the C word. After reading various threads in this forum it gave me big relief.
Hope yours will be smooth and wish you good luck .

please share your thoughts once it completed.

    thanks

  • Hi abnormal-fit

had my colonoscopy today - well partial one, my prep didn't completely empty my bowels, very frustrating but the positives- what the consultant showed me looked fine, just as went round said it wasn't clear and some stool left in- (I did the prep to best of my knowledge / but it does happen  ) now they will do it again but give me more laxatives.

The unit was fantastic in there made me feel relaxed and took good care - consultant was really nice and made me feel at ease- I look forward to getting the job done properly next time - hopefully before Christmas. Good luck with yours

  • Hi DONN123,

Thats good news. Atleast your doubts got cleared. Hope next next it will be smoothe as well.

Did they mentioned about removing any polyops,  if they exist ?

Did you opt for sedatives ? or just water and air ?

How long the whole process took ?

Sorry for asking more questions, i'm bit nervous about it.

    Thanks

  • Morning abnormal-fit

they didn't mention anything about polyps when I was in there but I do know if they see anything thag they need to remove ie polyps they will or they will leave them if they don't feel they need to remove.

i opted for sedative and it's not like you get knocked out your just more relaxed - you can have. Gas and air but I would go with sedation personally.

honesly the people in there was great I'd go again this morning if I could (just got to wait again) the prep wasn't nice but no as bad as I've read - I drank all mine just looks like I need a bit more encouragement to empty completely when on prep.

any questions fell free to ask

    Don

  • Cool, thanks for the reply Donn123.

I'll opt for sedation as well.
Your suggestions are really helpful to me.

    thanks again.

  • Hi Donn123,
