F.I.T

Hi

Im 62 years old and am absolutely petrified at the moment. I had a F.I.T result back this week that was abnormal the doctor said that it was 450ug/g which is worrying. I had to have this because I have had occasional bleeding when opening my bowels. I have been referred for an colonoscopy within two weeks. After reading articles it could mean a number of things but because my reading is so high am in doubt it's something more sinister. Does anyone have any reassuring posts on this.

Anthony

  • Hi Anthony,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. As you say, there are a number of things that could be causing the issue, but I appreciate it must be concerning nonetheless, and I know the uncertainty is never easy. It's good to hear you don't have too long to wait for the appointment and I hope the results follow soon after that.

Hopefully you'll receive more replies soon, particularly from others with similar experience. You can also search the forum (using the button in the blue bar above) to find other relevant discussions on here, if you would like to.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Well had my colonoscopy today and despite having a very high F.I.T reading on my stool test my diagnosis is  ulcerative colitis. Not too good but at least a better result than I thought. I thought I would reassure people that we all think the worst and we search for the internet hoping to reassure ourselves but instead we read something that we didn't want to know. Good luck everyone in similar situations.

    kind regards
