Fluid filled cyst found after treatment for ovarian cancer

Hi,

I recently finished treatment for stage one ovarian cancer. I had a hysterectomy (ovaries were removed too) and 6 rounds of chemo (carboplatin). Once the chemo was finished I had a ct scan.

I saw my oncologist recently for the results of the ct scan. The scan shows that there is a fluid filled cyst in my pelvis. My ca125 has raised slightly since they last tested it but it is still within normal range (it's currently 27). My oncologist is going to ring me next week once they have discussed the cyst. Obviously I am feeling quite worried and have wondered whether this could be the start of a recurrence of my cancer.

Has anybody been in a similar position to this?

  • Hello T1ana

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious about your most recent scan results. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and have some questions.

Many of our members will know how difficult the emotional rollercoaster of a cancer diagnosis can be. Hopefully some of them will post to share their advice and experiences of coping with you soon.

In the meantime, I can see that you've also posted in our Ask the Nurses topic and had a response from them. Do give them a call if you like to chat things through. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any support they can.

Keep in touch and let us know how the appointment with the Oncologist goes next week. Hopefully they will be able to offer some reassurance.

    Best wishes,
