My partner has a lump in the mouth. I have been told it is in the retromolar region. His first hospital appointment was with a specialist doctor who ordered a biopsy but didn't think it was a lump so no tissue was taken from this lump on the first biopsy. His second appointment was with another specialist doctor who said he could feel a lump and ordered a second biopsy to be taken from the actual lump. He said there was nothing untoward showing on the first biopsy or blood tests taken. He also did a panoramic xray which didn't show anything suspicious. He is still waiting for the second biopsy result. To date it is 3 months since he first noticed the problem which started with a burning feeling in the mouth and he said he felt that his tongue was on fire. He is in a lot of pain and eating is very difficult. Why has he not been referred to a consultant after all this time instead of specialist doctors? We are both very worried.
