Night sweats - is this something to be worried about?

Hi guys.

My partner has woken in a puddle of night sweat a few times in the last year. It's so wet that we have to change the bed or get the hair dryer out because it's like someone has thrown a bucket of water on the bed.

I've never had anything like this other than when I had flu years ago but he has it randomly with no real explanation. I wasn't originally concerned because:

1) I assumed maybe it wasn't that strange since he's always too warm at night, often sleeps with no duvet with the window open (silly really to assume it's normal to sweat that much)

2) it doesn't happen constantly it's just every now and then

3) he feels generally fine otherwise

he is 29 and has recently admitted this is a new thing and he never had it before the last year.

i suppose although it's a cancer symptom I'm not really worried it's that - but since it is a common symptom it would be great to discuss this.

my partner believes it's likely nothing since it's probably happening just once every few months, but I'm still abit worried.

Thanks :)

  • hello Sweetbiscuit44

I'm sorry to hear that your partner has some intermittent health concerns at the moment. it's understandable that you may be worried about what is causing these symptoms.

As this is an intermittent problem I wouldn't be too concerned but as things haven't been resolved it might be sensible for your partner to have a chat with his GP to get things checked. Hopefully, he will be able to give you both some reassurance.

    I hope things settle soon.

    Best wishes,
