Biopsy results - appt says to bring someone, is this bad?

Hello,

I am currently pregnant and had a 50cm ovarian cyst (half solid, half fluid)  containing 10 litres of fluid removed 3 weeks ago on Tuesday which I was told "looked mucinous and borderline for cancer but not obviously cancerous from the outer appearance" and had infected my ovary, tube and appendix and had those out also.

On Friday I received a phone call from gynaecology to attend an appointment and was asked if there was anyone I was able to bring with me to the appointment. I've been to 4 different hospitals for tons of appointments the last few months and have never been asked to bring someone.

Do you think this is reason to worry? Has anybody ever been told to bring somebody and had good news?

  • Hello Lozxmuz and welcome to the forum.

I'm glad your surgery to remove the cyst, as well as your ovary, tube and appendix went well although I'm sorry to hear they think it may be cancerous.

I know this must be a worrying time but I hope it helps to know that many of our members have been in a similar situation when receiving their results so you are not alone and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

We're thinking of you Lozxmuz and will have our fingers crossed you receive good news at your appointment.

    Kind regards,

  • Update: just in case anybody comes across this in future while searching for a similar thing. My diagnosis was positive for ovarian cancer.

  • I'm so sorry to hear this Lozxmuz.

I'm not sure how much you were told about your diagnosis but you can find out more about ovarian cancer on our website.

Hopefully some of our ovarian cancer members will come across your post soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer any questions you may have at this time.

We're here for you Lozxmuz and will do all we can to support you on this journey.

    Kind regards,
