Worried! Having test for ovarian Ca!

Hello. So I had a baby a year ago. Noticed during Labour sharp pain in left side. This went away, then has come back on the odd occasion but never lasts. About a couple of weeks ago I started with trapped wind, ecspecially towards the top of my stomach below my ribs, it's really uncomfortable at times. Went to the doctors as not really experienced this before. She's requested CA125 levels to be checked which I know is to test for ovarian cancer, she's requesting an ultrasound and I've had to send a stool sample. I'm now very worried about the bloods needing to be done. I'm not sure if im actually bloating now or it's just the fact I've put a little weight on since having a baby. I was Googling symptoms and one said frequent urination and guess what? Yesterday I experienced just that! Whereas previously I did not. I'm so confused as it's as though because I'm thinking about it I'm experiencing the symptoms im reading. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? If anyone else suffers with health anxiety.

I have had no bleeding, however since having my baby my periods are heavier than they were before. Also taking the combined Oral contraceptive pill.

Thanks for reading

  • Hi,

If it helps I'm at the same stage as you. I've had bloating and nausea for 12mths my initial doc said it was stress/IBS/menopause due to irregular/light periods.
we have recently moved & new Dr on first appointment raised ovarian cancer (no where on my radar!) I have a endoscopy next week (I only saw Dr 3 weeks ago). I've lost just over a stone in 6wks without trying. I feel the same about symptoms and reading about them. What worries me is my symptoms have been the same for 12mths prior to even thinking about cancer - I was thinking I had IBS and frustrated that nothing was helping! It's good you are getting everything checked out. I've come to the decision not to worry about it until someone tells me otherwise and tried to keep busy - thank god for work and dog walks to keep me busy. Sending hugs that you get the all clear, as Dory says 'just keep swimming'
