Can a colonography be painful?

I've had a positive FIT test (score of 10) and asked to have a colonography rather than a colonoscopy as I experieced huge trauma when I had a colonoscopy some years ago. Many of the comments here are familar - it was lworse than childbirth, I felt butchered and tortured. The consultant was irritated, unsympathetic and a nurse accused me of having a low pain threshold. There was a comment about me having a "sluggish bowel".

My question is whether a colonograpy may potentially be as painful because of the air that's pumped in? I am already dreading it.

Thanks in advance.
