22, Hard lump in left breast

Hi all,

im quite worried as I have a hard lump feels at least a couple of centimetres. It doesn't hurt at all but I'm so anxious I prod myself until it's sore... I've had enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and chin for a long time but doubt they're related. I've also been on hormonal contraception since I was 17 ish?

Seeing my Gp in a few hours for an exam but can't help feeling scared. A family friend passed away from metastatic breast cancer a while ago so it's a huge fear of mine. Boyfriend is army and currently deployed so I feel like I have no one to talk to.

edited to say that I also have unexplained hepatosplenomegaly and some other chronic conditions

  • Hi vg182016,

I just saw your post and wanted to wish you the best of luck with your GP appointment today.

I hope it goes well and your doctor is able to put your mind at ease but if something springs to mind that you forgot to ask at the time of your appointment then you're very welcome to get in touch with our nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

Many of our members have contended with a breast lump so they will definitely understand how scared you are feeling at the moment, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

We're thinking of you vg182016 and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you

just had the appt and she said she thinks it's just normal lumpy tissue but she did a 2ww breast clinic referral just in case

  • That's good to hear vg182016 and I hope having the referral will be able to give you some added reassurance as well.

The charity Breast Cancer Now have some handy information about what may happen at your appointment but if you have any questions, you can get in touch with one of our nurses on the number I gave you in my previous post.

    Kind regards,
