Llymph Gland degeneration

Hi

I have had a swollen gland for 6 months. Doctor said it felt like swollen thyroid nodules. Referred me for scan and it then began to get big in the last month. I paid for a private ultrasound. The results came back and I am confused. She said I have thyroid nodules and she will refer me to Ent to monitor them. The other part is that my swollen gland will need to be looked at with an MRI because the gland shows degeneration. I have never heard of this. Has anybody any idea what that means. I'm worried because I don't understand why I need an MRI after ultrasound.

Thanks for reading.

  • Hello Julles58

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems at the moment . It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

I'm afraid I don't know what the results are indicating. The best person to talk to about your concerns would be your GP however what I do know is that MRI scans are often used to gain more information about a health issue. They offer a more detailed and accurate picture than an ultrasound so whilst you may be feeling anxious about this it's good to know that the specialists are trying to get to the bottom of the problem for you. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your scan and the results.

    Best wishes,
