Terrified of cervical cancer

I've been suffering with pain and bleeding for a few months during and after intercourse. I phoned the gp this morning and I have an appointment for an examination on my cervix in 2 weeks. She has also referred me to the hospital for an ultrasound but she said that might take a couple of months. Then as I came off the phone I started bleeding brown/pinky blood which is unusual and nothing to do with my period as that finished a week ago. I am 27 so only had 1 smear so far that was last august and everything came back normal. Of course I am presuming the worst, but there are also a few other symptoms going on which are confusing me. I bleed from behind when I am on my period. I did have a colonoscopy for this back in 2019 which came back normal but it is still happening. It also hurts to do a bowel movement when I have my period. I just feel so over whelmed and feel as if I have a million things going on:cry:

  • Hi Rainbow,

I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been experiencing and for the worry this is causing but hopefully the appointment you have in 2 weeks along with the ultrasound will get you a step closer to some answers and peace of mind.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations will be along shortly to offer you some support and advice but if you would like to discuss any of this with one of our nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Rainbow and hope everything turns out o.k.

    Kind regards,
