Mole Biopsy Results

I posted a few weeks ago.

I had my mole removed 2 weeks ago, I was told it would take 4-6 weeks, dermatology contacted me this afternoon and I have to go in tomorrow tat 9am to discuss my results.

I have been booked in for a follow up for 25OH Vitiman D testing (I don't know what this is for) the secretary informed me that she couldn't see the results as the file was locked.

I am a wreck, I am preparing myself for the worse. What does this mean? Why would they put in for further investigations and why would the file be locked?

thankyou in advance!

  • Hey Dgdjg,

I can see from a post you made the other day on your discussion that you now have your results and you've been diagnosed with melanoma.

I'm sorry the results didn't bring the news you were hoping for but I want you to know that the Cancer Chat community are here for you and I'm sure some of our members who have been on this journey will offer their support and advice to you soon.

You can find out more about melanoma and the stage you've been diagnosed with on our website but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, they can be contacted on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer any questions you may have and put your mind at ease.

We're thinking of you Dgdjg and hope it won't be long until you find out what happens next.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi,

All newly diagnosed melanoma patients have their Vitamin D level tested by blood test. This is because we need higher levels than the rest of the population as we avoid the sun more. If the level is very deficient you will be prescribed a short term, high dose supplement. Once the level is optimum, patients then need to buy over the counter supplements for the rest of their life. I hope this calls your worry.
