I am a 62 year old woman who has had worrying bowel symptoms for the past year.

The main symptom is diarrhoea, rapid transit of food, odd spot of blood. Left sided pain etc. I had these symptoms this time last year. It took a few months, but eventually they went away. I had several fit tests, which were all clear.

Now the same symptoms have returned. Diarrhoea for several weeks etc. I have been referred to the hospital under the two week rule and I have almost ground to a halt as I am so anxious about it all. I am convinced I have bowel cancer.

How reliable are the fit tests?
