Hysteroscopy follow up- help!

Please help, I'm worrying so much.

I had a hysteroscopy and polyps removed at the end of September. They also took a biopsy from my womb.

Having heard nothing (6 weeks) I rang to chase results. They said that they would be sent to me, but then rang back and asked me to attend an appointment with the consultant at Gynae clinic on Monday.

I'm obviously really worried. Why would I be given a follow up? Is there any possibility except bad news?

  • Welcome to the forum Chad1 although I'm sorry for how long you've had to wait to get your results and for the appointment that has been made for tomorrow.

I know it's difficult, but try not to read too much in to this if you can. Easier said than done I know, but the way results are given, whether they're good or bad, can change at the last minute and may also differ depending on what part of the country you're in.

Many of our members have been in this situation so they will understand what you're going through at the moment, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

If you have anything playing on your mind before or after your appointment, you're very welcome to talk things through with our nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you Chad and wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

  • Hiya this a tricky one to answer cos everyone seems to work different. 6 weeks is along time to wait and would like to say if anything had been wrong would of heard earlier, there's no guarantees till u have appointment Monday. I had all mine done and waited 10 days for results, I think on this one u gonna stress til Monday cos ur scared. Once ur meeting is over least ur know what's what xx wishing u the best of luck xx anything I can help u with feel free to message me x

  • What an awful shabby way to treat you, OP - I think you'd be fully entitled to ask for an explanation of what's happened here.

On my biopsy result it said "no evidence of endometriosis, polyp formation, hyperplasia, atypia or malignancy" so there definitely are other things it could be. Did they suggest bringing someone with you? If not, then I think you can have a rational hope that it's one of the less serious options since my mind boggles at the idea that the NHS could have let anything else slip by like that. A friend of mine didn't get her results, just assumed that was good and never chased them up. What would have happened if you'd done the same?

    Keeping fingers crossed for you.
