Cervical cancer symptoms?

Hi,

Just needing some advice please.

I have had bleeding after sex every time for the past month. Nothing has changed with my contraception and I'm married been with the same man for 12 years. I've had swabs that were clear. I had a pelvic ultrasound yesterday to check for cysts as I have had 2 removed in the past year. She confirmed no cysts or fluid anywhere but can't explain the bleeding.

I have had left side pain but it's more of a dull ache than pain, defo different to when I had the cysts. I had had trouble with my bowels for months I either have cramps and the runs or can't go. I have a lot of nausea also. I also had a feel around and my cervix has a bump/lump on it.

i don't know if I should be worried or not. Can you just bleed for no reason?

any advice would be helpful.

  • Hello Laureneb

I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing some ongoing bleeding. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious. Whilst it's great to hear that the tests you've had so far haven't given any immediate cause for concern, it doesn't give you answers nor help improve the situation.

Do speak to your GP about your concerns and the bump/lump that you've been able to feel. There could be any number of reasons for the bleeding that you've been experiencing and hopefully, your GP will be able to help get to the cause of this soon and give you some reassurance.

If you'd like to chat through your concerns with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Having gone down this road I would def say you have to push for what u think isn't right. I suffered bloating constipation tiredness and doc gave me laxatives, I had a good doc that pushed for 2 week pathway but this was cos had a bleed in menopause. Your worries could be anything but you won't know unless u push them. I had an internal scan and things moved pretty quick after that, maybe u could ask for the same. Sad that gp's still do not want to see warning signs xx good luck to you and try not to over worry (easy to say), but def go bk to ur docs
