Suspicious mole falling off after scabbing

Hi! Bare with my while I tell you the story of my weird mole:) so a year ago I had a weird mole pop up on my back, it was black with a red border around it. Stupidly, I decided to ignore it for a while and see if it's gonna change at all, grow etc. It ended up completely changing its colour and then disappearing after few months.

About two weeks ago the mole came back, the exactly same place and looked the same as last year but BIGGER..

This time I went to my GP and was referred for a 2 week wait cancer suspicion appointment however there's delays in that service so I'm expected to wait about a month or more for my appointment.

Since I went to the doctors, I ended up scratching the mole and making it bleed (it was itchy, I scratched it without thinking) so it ended up scabbing. And then few days ago when I was in the bath it ended up coming off completely.. the red border is still there, it was the black part of the mole that came off.

I'm not sure whether I should ignore it and wait patiently for my appointment or try to chase it up?

  • Do you have any photographs of the mole so you can show them a 'diary' of it's progression?

You probably won't get seen any quicker but it won't harm to give dermatology a call. Tell them the mole is continuing to change since you were referred and that you would be happy to accept a cancellation at short notice. It may get you seen earlier. Meanwhile, any further changes ensure you have photos. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
