Positive FIT test

Hi, I am 47yrs old female and have received a positive fit test result of over 200, had a rectal examination and no piles, masses or unusual lumps or bumps, I had a period of 10 days where I was passing blood and big clots from my back passage, I have been told I'm on a 2ww referral for more tests, this obviously is worrying to me, I haven't spoken to my family yet as don't want to worry them, but I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could give me any advice, reassurance.

Thank you to any advice or reassurance

  • Hi I'm so sorry, this must be such a worrying time for you. It's good you're talking on here since it helps to let thoughts out and you don't want to worry your family.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm 20 and had a positive FIT test result a few weeks ago of over 400. I'm still surprised as I didn't see any blood in my poo. My symptoms are weight loss and rectal pain. The test only looks for blood, did you see blood when you took the test?

I'm not sure yet if I'm going to be referred yet. I did a faecal calprotectin test which was slightly raised so I need to do a repeat test next week before they decide if I should be referred to upper or lower GI specialists.

It's good that you'll be having tests very soon. I hope everything turns out okay for you. I read someone on here had a FIT result of over 400 and she ended up having internal piles so the dr couldn't feel it during the rectal exam.

  • Thank you foryour reply hopefully it's something as simple as internal piles and I was passing blood and clots without opening my bowels

  • I hope you get to the bottom of your issues Sophie2001

  • We all think the worst straight away. Your symptoms could be many things. The physical examination is reassuring so try not to worry x
