Bleeding

Hi,

I have been bleeding since 20th august and there have been clots of all types colours and size. I have had heavy cramps and generally felt exhausted and low with no energy and tired.

Recently seen nurse who had a look and feel couldn't see or feel any issues such as polyps or prolapse

had bloods completed and only thing picked up was little high cholesterol

Due to still bleeding I have seen GP now who has completed another blood test which shows my iron level is low and also given me traneximic and folic tablets, requested urgent scan to be completed.

i have been signed off for 2 weeks and worried my scan will not be done due to waiting list. I feel bad I'm off work but I'm not feeling 100% myself

im worried about my employer due to being off and so worried about what results I could be given should I be worried it could be cancer of the cervix thoughts are running wild and i dont know how to cope

Have you had regular smear tests?

All smears have been had and next due is March 2023
I have also not been sexually active due to husband having vasectomy

That sounds like how I was 15 years or so ago - after normal periods I then had a heavy period that did not really stop, bad cramps, passing clots etc along with the low energy - also could not go to work. My bloods were ok except for low iron and I was given the same sets of tablets as you.
In my case it was not cancer - the urgent scan showed a very large growth/polyp and some smaller ones, totally within the womb. The tranexemic did its job though and I was able to get on with life as I waited for an op to remove them.
I hope you have a similar outcome

Hi,
thank you so much for this response it has given me a liitle
sense of when the scan is done it may be confirmed.
how long did you have off work? I'm worried that work may not be understanding of this issue but I'm extremely exhausted and only been on the meds since Monday with a 2 week note

I'm sorry, I can't remember how long - I started feeling better quite quickly after starting the tablets for my iron levels, certainly within the 2 week mark. I was teaching at the time, but for a language school and I know the rest of that term (about 6 weeks) I had an interrupted timetable but that was more about the bleeding and not having quick access to a toilet.
I'm sure as your iron levels rise you will start feeling better in yourself.
At the scan I was told 'growth/polyp' and that they were as certain as they could be that it was benign and not cancerous but I did have to put that niggling fear to the back of my mind until removal confirmed it.
