Lump in groin and diagnosing lymphoma without a biopsy!

Things have moved so quick.

two weeks ago I went to the gp with a large lump right in my groin/pelvic area no other symptoms except for itching all over for nearly a year.  I was sent for bloods and an ultra sound the next day. Bloods all normal.

just over two weeks later I had an appointment with the haemotologist who checked my arms and neck never found anything. Felt the lump for about ten seconds and told me its cancer, probably lymphoma. Hes requested a biopsy to stage it. As hes the expert do you think he is right even without a biopsy? I mean I suspected it was (Im a nurse) is that why he just said it so casually? He said dont worry there is plenty we can do. I dont inow how I feel!

  • Hi Angelala67,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be concerning and I hope you're getting on OK.

The doctor may have just been going on some similar experience, but only the biopsy will be able to tell for sure, so hopefully you'll get the results soon.

It has probably made things more difficult and worrying that he said what he did, but as I said hopefully you'll get the information you need before long, and then an opportunity to talk things through.

In the meantime we're always here for support if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
