Hard lump in armpit

Hi, I've seen a few of these on here, but none of them seem to be easing me atol! I found a lump in my left armpit (more the edge than in the middle) I've had it now for way over a month. At the beginning when I found it my lump would've released some puss but hasn't done that since the very start. I went to the gp last week and gave me antibiotics to rule out any infection but nothing changed. Back tomorrow for another appointment. I am absolutely terrified as cancer runs in my family. I have myself crying to sleep and not eating. Of course google has me dead and buried. Did anyone else experience something like this? I'm hoping the gp do things quickly for me and I can get seen and feel better.

  • Welcome to the forum Laurabxo although I'm sorry to hear about the lump you've found in your armpit and for the worry this has been causing.

I hope your appointment with the GP went well yesterday and they've been able to put your mind at ease but if you have any questions playing on your mind since speaking with them or would like to discuss this further, you're very welcome to give our nurses a quick call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and advice as well.

We're thinking of you Laura, and hope this lump turns out to be no cause for concern.

  • That is so lovely! Thank you.

attended appointment and Gp is hoping it is more of an abscess however going to refer me for a scan just to double check. Dad has hodgkins lymphoma 5 years ago so as it is just a close connection they want to be safe. Still worrying however definetly not as bad. Gp is reacting very quickly thank goodness! Everything crossed for when I get my appointment for my scan.

  • It's great to hear your GP has listened to your concerns and referred you on Laura.

I know the wait for your scan will be an anxious one but hopefully some of the tips and advice given in this article will help calm your nerves until your appointment comes through.

    Fingers crossed for good news.

    All the best,
