Hi,
I have recently been to the GP about a small mole on my thigh. This mole has been concerning me for around a year and I can't be sure when it actually appeared on my leg, at a guess I would say approximately 3 years ago. It is around 4mm and completely flat. I have been to see the GP 3 times over the last year as this mole is very dark, it is basically black. Two GP's told me this mole was fine as it was very small, no changes and to only return if there was a change. 3 weeks ago the mole became ever so slightly raised and looked dry.
I saw another GP and he booked me an appointment with a dermatologist in the surgery as he wasn't 100% sure. I went to the dermatologist appointment on Friday and she looked at the mole through a Dermascope and took some pictures. She told me she was concerned about the colours within the mole and wanted to refer me to a clinic to see a specialist. Unfortunately I didn't ask the correct questions at the appointment as I was so worried but she kept saying "don't worry I don't think it's cancer" which then worried me even more hearing her say that word!
She told me the mole has 2 out of 3 issues but she didn't explain what these were. I am now waiting for a letter which I am told will arrive in 10/14 days with an appointment.
Sorry for the huge post but I cannot stop crying, I am spending every moment of the day panicking and can't think about anything else. I am angry at myself for not pushing this sooner when I was first worried about the mole. Any advice would be appreciated as I am struggling to keep myself busy as I feel like I can't concentrate on anything other than this. Is it worth paying to go private to be seen quicker??
Thank you for reading.
