Bladder cancer ?

Hi, i am a 38 year old female, I have had trouble the last year or so but put it down to my down below i have lichen sclerosus and Clitoral atrophy, the last couple of months my symptoms have worsened pain under my left hip, lower left back and lower left abdomen pain that goes into my groin and leg, weeing constantly and its dark and smells. Went to the Doctors 2 weeks yesterday and she done an internal exam and thought it was my left ovary, she done swabs which all came back no infections, she also done a urine test which showed no infections but blood in my urine. she sent me for a urgent referral to a gynocologist which i had last Wednesday and she said she has looked at my previous scans due to a polyps in my cervix last year and said it was all fine and my smear was all clear in February 2021, she thinks its problem's with my urinary tract. Well left the hospital and by the time i got home i had a ct scan booked for the following Tuesday which was this week, after my ct scan i asked how long the results would take and she doubled checked my doctor's details and said they would be with my doctor's by the end of next week. I am so worried my mum died at 43 of pancreatic cancer, my nan had lung cancer and my auntie died of cervical cancer in her 50s. I had a nervous wait a couple of years ago on a biopsy on my vulvar but came back as Lichen sclerosus and not cancer which i have 4 monthly follow ups as the scaring got that bad i now have clitoral atrophy. Has anyone had similar symptoms, really appreciate it, getting worried now. X

  • Hello welshyb,

Poor you it's been such a stressful time. It's reassuring that the swabs and the urine test showed no infections and it's great that things moved fast and you were able to have the CT scan this week and that it won't be long now until you have your results.

It's normal to be worried especially as your mum died at such a young age of pancreatic cancer and  you also lost your nan and your auntie to cancer, but try not to draw any conclusions from this or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this while you are waiting for your results is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will also hear from others here who have had similar symptoms and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hey Mario, I noticed you were hoping to hear back from Welshyb so I just wanted to let you know they haven't been on the forum in a little while so there's a chance you may not get a reply.

I really hope that won't be the case, but if they don't respond, feel free to start a new discussion or reach out to others on more recent discussions you find about this subject on the forum.

I really do hope your symptoms improve and that the third sample you've provided brings good news.

    Kind regards,
