Breast clinic referral help

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me please.

around 4 weeks ago I had a nasty fall where I fell into the corner of a table which left me with a large black/blue bruise on my left breast. Over the weeks the bruise has gone down but whilst showering I noticed a large lump under the skin where breast tissue is. The next morning I woke to my bruise being worse - as if I had interrupted the healing.

it's been two weeks and the lump is still there, I went to the doctors who said because of my age and no family history she was not concerned and believe it to be fat necrosis and told me to just keep a eye on it.

3 hours later I've just recieved a call to say she's spoken with her supervisor and has been advised to refer me to the breast clinic. That is all I have been told I was just wondering what to expect next and whether anyone has any experience with a similar lump?

Any help would be great as I've recently gone through a miscarriage and I am extremely anxious with all this going on too.

thanks :)

  • This is what happened to me after I noticed orange peel dimples on my right breast.

Not from falling or anything as it just appeared.

I called surgery and was seen by the nurse who booked referral to breast Unit.

Nearly 2 months on 23 Sept later I saw breast consultant who examined me and found a lump.

Consultant that day arranged for a 3 d mammogram followed by ultrasound and a core biopsy during this initial appointment as she suspected it was cancer.

Last Friday I was told I had triple A negative cancer and tumour was to be removed.

Yesterday I was told my tumour removal surgery is mid November.

  • Thank you for your reply.

i am sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I hope you recover well and you are looking after yourself. It must of been a huge whirlwind for you!

its just frustrating as I had a fall and the lump is in the exact place, which leant my doctor to the belief it's just tissue damage and it is very sensitive and achy within the surrounding areas. The lump itself is almost the same texture as the tissue just In a lump form ( hard to explain!)

I was just shocked to receive the phonecall that I am now being referred and it does not help that it's 4 weeks away so the waiting is agnosising.

i wish you all the best for the future and have my fingers crossed for you! Please take care of yourself.

    Thanks :)

  • Yes my journey into the unknown has begun with a pre assessment visit to local hospital to check my medical history.

On Monday it's with an anaesthetist. So it's galloping ahead.

It is what it is and I go with the flow.

Thanks  for your good wishes and I hope you sail through what is ahead, like the rest of us on this forum we will have our ups and downs.

We are here to listen and support you by sharing our experiences as every little helps as they say.
