try not to worry too much. I know that's easier said than done.

I've just had a very similar situation and the histology came back as benign and there is a high rate of melanoma in my family. 
 

it's likely they will take some photos and then possibly excise the mole at a later date. But they may do this at the same time but probably not as they may not have the equipment ready.
