Yet another breast indentation. What to do?

Hi guys, I just need some advice about where to go from here….

I had a mammo and ultrasound 6 months ago which were clear, but my breast doctor is keeping me on regular 3-6 monthly reviews to keep an eye on my tethered dimples (one on each breast) My next review is 3 and a half months away.

About 4 weeks ago, i noticed that when I lie down, the lower inner quadrant of my right breast looks deflated/indented. You can see my inframmory ridge sticking through the skin, then above it the skin just sinks inward, the sunken area is about the length and thickness of two fingers.
My logical side is telling me this is probably just thin skin/fat loss (I’ve lost over a stone and a half in the past 3 months) especially because i can only see this when lying down with my arm raised, I can’t feel a lump or anything behind it and I’ve had mammo/us 6 months ago. I last seen my breast doctor in august for a manual examination and he didn’t mention seeing anything concerning.

Im not sure where to go from here. I don’t want to waste anyones time, but my brain can’t decide if this can wait til my next review in February or if I should try to see my doctor sooner.
I have health anxiety which I am taking medication to try to manage, so going back to the hospital for checks is hugely triggering and something I struggle with a lot. I’ve spent the last 4 weeks battling with my own mind about whether to go get this checked or just wait til my next review in feb.

please can anyone offer any opinions?

  • My gut feeling is if you are worried enough to post and it's on your mind, seek medical advice. For peace of mind at least. It is not wasting anyone's time at all. If in doubt, get it checked out.

One of my tell tales was a breast indentation when I led down or raised my arm. Xx

  • Hi x

ive noticed the same thing when I lie down some of the skin looks indented I've also lost a lot of weight over the last 3 years to so it's hard to tell Isn't it I've also been getting pain in my breast too so I went to the doctors who wasn't concerned but has refured me to the breast clinic as urgent but not on the 2ww pathway I have major health anxiety witch affects my daily life I cry most the day and night thinking they have missed something when I was refured 2 years ago for a lump I had there put was told was normal breast tissue

    Big hugs to you x

  • Aww char, it's good that the GP has been able to give you some reassurance. That counts for a lot!!
Does your indent sound like it looks the same as mine? Some days I'm sure it's just an aging thing. I'm 37. Surely it's normal for stretched skin to sink abit.
I hope you get your appointment soon so you can get the reassurance you need!

  • It does but I always have in the back of my head no one really knows until you've had actual tests and I'm always on Google witch probably doesn't help my anxiety I've just turned 30 and got 2 little girls so im just petrified, the way you've explained yours sounds and looks just like mine and when I mentioned it to my doctor he said probably the weight loss but again to me he wasn't really sure but I over think eveything and always think the worst xx

  • I would inform GP surgery and ask to be examined.

If they find anything you will be referred back to surgeon
