I meant to update a previous post I did around a year ago but I've just remembered now. I want to put this information on regarding my diagnosis in the hope that it may help someone who is worried like I was.

My original post stated that I had started breaking out in large, red spots especially on the arms and some of these were bleeding. Blood tests also showed a high platelet count. I was worried that I either had skin cancer or vasculitis.  As I was over 60 at the time I dismissed eczema as a possible cause as it rare to occur for the first time at that age. My consultant did a biopsy as she also said it would be unusual if it was eczema. 

It did turn out to be eczema though which I was obviously very relieved about even though it is a nuisance.
