Health anxiety over this lump on my neck. Please help

hi,

im only 16 but am really struggling with health anxiety.

I have a tiny lump(bump, spot, bite?) who knows on my lower neck near my collar bone, it's painless, hard and moveable and it's really causing me to worry, my mum said it's probably just a bite or a cyst or soemthing minor, but the more I think about it, the more I worry it's soemthing serious, I know the random pains I get say to day are due to growing, periods, hormones whatever but I can't stop thinking everything is connected and it's really soemthing major and that I have a serious Illness. I don't know how to stop this worrying over soemthing this is causing me no pain or discomfort but is making my mind spiral, any help or advice would be really appreciated!

  • I'm sorry for the worry and stress this is causing worriedteenager2406.

It's only natural to feel slightly scared and alarmed by any unexplained symptoms that appear but as this is playing on your mind and increasing your health anxiety, it may be best to book an appointment with your GP to get this checked. Not only will this give you the answers and peace of mind you're seeking at this time but you will also be able to get some support and advice on managing your health anxiety, so do get yourself booked in when you can.

In the meantime, I hope some of the tips and advice given on the Mind and NHS websites will prove useful but hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will offer their support and advice to you soon as well.

    Kind regards,
