Waiting for results

I started with a sore throat at the end of August, it came on very quickly. Later my lymph nodes were swollen on one side. After several nurse visits I ended up with my GP who tried antibiotics that did not work. I was referred to ENT where they took a biopsy from my tonsil and a sample of the fluid from my neck swelling. It's now a two week wait for my results. My GP says he doesn't think it's cancer, but looking at Dr Google hasn't helped, and the ENT clinic didn't give much away.

I'm worried because I have drunk a lot of alcohol in the past, and I fear it has caught up with me. Has anyone got any thoughts or help?

  • Hi CatDad,

It's good to hear you've managed to get some tests done - this will mean you get answers soon, and I hope it's not too long to wait for this.

Looking things up on Google doesn't tend to help as it's not possible to self-diagnose, and the information is often irrelevant and tends to increase worries.

I hope you're able to find out more soon - and in the meantime take things a day at a time and try to keep busy where possible, to help keep your mind off things.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
