Biopsy results in 2 days... lymphoma?

Hi all

I have been having swollen, hard lymph nodes on the right side of my neck for roughly 2 months now. It all started with a discomfort just above the collarbone.

It's been two months of blood tests (I have high levels of ESR, meaning inflammation), a thin needle biopsy (inconclusive) and a chest xray scan (clean).

Had a core biopsy two weeks ago with a follow up appointment on the 26th, in two days. Heamatologist told me they would call me in advance if it was bad news. But at the same time I know biopsy can take a long time to analyse, plus isn't it better to give someone bad news in person?

In the last two weeks, my fatigue has worsened, I have a new lump over my throath and a weird very itchy rash on my leg. Plus, of course the anxiety over constantly waiting without knowing.

All seems to be suggesting lymphoma, any thoughts?

  • Hi Alimsxx and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about all the symptoms you've been contending with lately but I can see you have your follow up appointment today for your core biopsy so I just wanted to wish you the best of luck and let you know we're thinking of you.

I hope the haematologist is able to give you some good news and peace of mind but if anything springs to mind after you've spoken with them, you're very welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Did you get your results? I've got my first 2ww ent appointment Friday for a neck lump.. my blood tests came back high lymphocytes and high neutrophil

  • Hi Sar3112

Yes, unfortunately I got my results back and I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma last week.

They called me again today to go into the hospital tomorrow - not really sure why and I'm getting quite anxious about it.

My blood tests always showed high level of inflammation (ESR) and slightly high lymphocytes.

Only a biopsy will give you a diagnosis

    Keep me posted!

  • They started very small and they growed with time, they're now around 5cm

  • Hi alimsxx,

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I completely understand how much of a shock to the system this must be.

I just wanted to reach out and offer some support should you need it. I was diagnosed with classical hodgkins lymphoma in May this year and I'm actually having my 9th treatment later today with the hope of finishing treatment mid December.

I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have or share some tips and tricks I've learnt over the past few months.

Anyway, I'm only ever a message away if you need any support. I wish you all the best with your appointment today. You will get through this.

    Kind regards,

    Cal

  • Hi Cal

Thank you very much for your message, really appreciated!

I went in this morning and it was the senior consultant wanting to see me to go over my diagnosis again. And I got an oncologist appointment for tomorrow, even if I still need to do a PET scan. So things are speeding up!

Any tips and tricks are welcome at this point, if you're still willing to share (:

    All the best
    Alice

  • How did today go?.. take care x

  • Hi Alice,

Great that things are speeding up. You'll probably find that everything seems to happen much quicker now and there's finally a sense of urgency!

I've sent you a friend request on here (I think). More than happy to answer any questions and share some advice. Treatment is unique for everybody and theres no right or wrong answers, but I can tell you what does and doesn't work for me.

    Best wishes,

    Cal
