Cervical cancer

My girlfriend had a smear test 12th September and had received a message from GP that they have booked an appointment for her for the 21st November she was advised that she would receive results via letter and would not be asked to come in but now she had received this appointment she is very worried with it, has anybody else had a similar situation as I don't really know what to do.

  • Welcome to the forum Nkc95 although I'm sorry to hear how worried your girlfriend is at the moment.

    I hope it helps to know that many of our members have been in similar situations so she is not alone and hopefully some of them will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

    In the meantime, your girlfriend could try and get in touch with her GP surgery to find out more but if she would like to talk things through with one of our nurses, she can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very friendly and will do all they can to help.

    I would probably ask for earlier appointment, as waiting til 21st not good cos will only get panicked. I’m sure if was bad would receive hospital appointment for relevant checks, hopefully is nothing to bad xx
