Skin lesion on 8yo daughter

Hi, my daughter has been having numerous symptoms since January that me and our Dr thought were anxiety related: night sweats, headaches, a feeling of weakness, mottled skin. She then developed a blister looking rash on the left side of her torso, Dr didn't know what it was and it went by itself. Few months later she developed another purple pinprickrash on her right hand side lower belly that has now also disappeared after a few weeks. My main concern is she has developed a lesion on her head that has now been here for 6 weeks and is about 1cm in height 1x1inches, so it has grew fast numerous drs did not know what it is and all assumed to be fungal. She had it swabbed which came back negative and was put on 2 courses of amoxicillin and has spent 2 weeks on terbinafine but it has continued to grow. It is not itchy, no hair loss, it is a solid yellow thick mass that feels as hard as a rock and does not hurt when touching it only with extreme pressure she might say ow. Dr said he now does not believe it to be fungal but a benign growth of some sort to stop terbinafine as that should have made a difference and it shouldn't continue to grow while on it  but I have now noticed the skin underneath has started to turn black not in a scab way as in I've smudges black eyeline underneath it  she has swollen lymph nodes at the back of her head behind her ears and down both sides of her neck, school are giving her paracetamol 3x weekly due to sharp pains/pressure at the back and sides of her head and ear pain. I myself am also giving her paracetamol at home. She has had her lymph nodes ultrasounded with just some normal fluid amount noted everything seemed to be reactive. Her bloods were all fine apart from ESR coming back over double what it should be. I'm sorry this is alot I am petrified, I don't think I've ever been so worried in my life! her dermatology apt isn't for another 5 weeks. Please does anyone have any idea what this is? I don't know if you can post photos but I'm more than happy to send close ups over for more opinions if that's possible.

Thank you for any help/advice

  • Hello Lyn5,

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter and can understand you're worried, especially during this waiting period. If her symptoms or lesion changes before the dermatology appointment, please let the specialist know and don't be afraid to chase up an appointment date if you feel you need to. In the meantime, it might help to write down any questions you have ahead of the appointment so feel more prepared. These tips here are also useful whether you're waiting for an appointment or results.

    I hope this helps,
