Cervical Cancer Symptoms

Hi all.

I'm 24, lesbian & I've experienced bleeding after sex every single time for the last 9-12 months. Sex is often uncomfortable too. I've got incredibly bad pelvic pain, to the point I can't move some days, I am also struggling with urinating (I can't pee unless I really think about it or I'm about to burst). I also have this weird spotting between periods with weird little (sorry tmi) things that look like clots but very dark coloured of flesh coloured. My periods went from being so light, to the heaviest periods ever. I leak through super plus tampon & sanitary pad within 1 hour.

My gut is telling me something is wrong. I told my gp when it first started happening but I got told the bleeding after sex was normal and to come back, but they're not listening to me. I can't be given a smear for another year yet. They've just said the pain is sciatica.

  • Hi Alltoo_well99,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties and I'm sure it must be concerning to have symptoms without answers. It's good that the doctor wasn't concerned, however I appreciate this is also not too helpful if you feel you aren't being listened to.

I can only suggest calling your GP again, and if this doesn't help, then to try to get a second opinion.

Smear tests are not diagnostic tests, but if your doctor feels any tests are necessary to get some answers then they will advise accordingly.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • I would go back to ur gp, and don’t let them fob u of, she’s probably looked at ur age and thought not possible, but any age is possible, it may well be nothing but what if it’s something xx if no smear ask for vaginal scan, if ur body says something isn’t right then go with ur gut xx

  • Hi, I've finally been listened to. I have an ultrasound today and next week I have a pelvic examination & blood test as this new gp agrees I'm experiencing something unusual & agreed I was okay to be worried about cervical/ovarian cancer after I lost 3 aunties to it between ages 21-23.

  • Finally they have listened, long wait October till now but at least the ball in rolling and ur on the move. The ultrasound is a good start, and hopefully they find nothing and put your mind at rest, any help I can offer I'm here, went through all this 2 year ago so know how worrying it can all be xx my fingers are crossed for you
