Anxious and worried about skin cancer

Hi everyone 

   I'm new here but felt like reaching out as I'm so worried. I have had a brown patch on my face for probably over 6 years, thought it was a sunspot, however recently it has started to become darker so thought I'd better get it checked out. GP thought it was nothing to worry about but referred me anyway. So I went for pictures and then received a text message to say arrangements are being made for a minor operation and biopsy in the near future. No other information, I have no idea of when this will happen and I've already gone to worst case scenario in my head. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Just going out of my mind with worry here

  • I'm sorry for the worry this is causing D.

    If you have the contact details of the department you were referrred to you could try getting in touch with them to find out more about the operation and biopsy that's being arranged for you or you could ask your GP to look in to this instead.

    Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our nurses whilst you wait, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

      Thanks for responding and for the advice you've given. I'm going try ring them tomorrow and see if I can find anything out as the waiting is driving me mad.
