Lump on ovary area on right

I visited my GP about a lump on my ovary area. It's a hard lump 3cm and I've noticed it in the last 2 weeks. She was a little clueless and left the room many times to check in with a senior colleague. I asked her to refer me to get it checked and she advised she would refer me for an ultrasound.

I also mentioned I had abnormal cells following a smear in 2020 and was advised of yearly checks( which haven't happened) she said she didn't have that on the system any I should check letters at home.

I'm worried it will take some time to get the ultrasound(on NHS) and unsure if I should have been referred anywhere else? Or had any blood tests done?

I would appreciate any guidance you may have. Thank you!

  • Welcome to the forum Sunseasand44 although I'm sorry for the worry this is causing.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon but if you'd prefer to discuss this with one of our nurses, they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040. They're very friendly and will do all they can to help.

If you have more than one GP working at your surgery, you could try getting a second opinion as well.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your ultrasound and the results show the lump is no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,
