Bleeding, lumps & pain. Colposcopy due on Monday. Terrified

Hi hope it's ok to post. I found 3 lumps on my cervix and bleeding after intercourse. Have constant period pain and bloating. My bloods come back and the inflammatory markers are high which indicates infection. Constipated alot and also the opposite. I went to doctors and she referred me to gynecology and with in 4 days I was seen. Gynaecologist not sure if cervical cancer or ectoprion. I go for colscopy on Monday and biopsy. I am petrified. In between all this they sent me for a ultrasound and a vaginal ultrasound and found multiple fibroids one growing in the back wall of my uterus . Which they are concerned about. Really feel like the no knowing is the worst

High von ,just read your post and thought I'd reach out to you. I understand how worried you must be. I had to have two colposcopys.  I didnt have the symptoms you are experiencing, I had an area on my vulva, which didn't look right, and was white. I had been diognosed with lichen serouses quite a few yrs back  2012 by my gp who prescribed a steroid cream, and said " it had to be kept an eye on as it could turn cancerous. Well during chemotherapy in May 2020 for brest cancer the area started to spot with blood on and off. So back I went, and my gp sent me to see a gynecologist, who preformed a colposcopy the week after I'd seen him. I was very apprehensive of having it done, but I can honestly say it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined. He put this kind of vinigar solution on the area, and injected something to numb the area, before he took the biobsy. He had a very large microscope, and a light  so it made it easier for him to see the area he was doing a biobsy on. It was a bit uncomfortable for a few days  but ,not bad really  I was really surprised.

I did have a ten  and a half week wait for my results, which wasn't nice. But it turned out I hade Vin 3 pre cancerous cells of the vulva. I'm being monitored, and also my gp sent me to see a dermatologist at the hospital, who  did another colposcopy  on another area that she was concerned about  on the oppisite side  of the vulva, but that came back normal  skin which i was very happy about . The dermatologist  prescribed lots of nice wash creams and emolients ( creams) to keep the area  from not drying out,and stop it from itching  which is what vin 3 and lichen serouses do. I will be monitored closely for years ,as although the area is looking good ive been told the vin 3 could come back ,as there is no cure for the lichen serouses.  But at least I'm being looked after.

My point to this post is the colposcopy isn't as bad as your probably imagining, and I just wanted to let you know that, so you hopefully won't be as worried as i was . I do hope you get seen quickly, and that all goes well for you. Sending you some positive vibes X

  • Thank you so much for your reply it makes me feel less apprehensive. Glad you are being looked after . I can honestly say the process has been very thurough which is amazing xx sending lots of love
