Is it time I should be feeling relieved

I've had so many symptoms since March (before that I was fine and never got ill) and I keep thinking something isn't right but now I feel like maybe I have health anxiety and that nothing is wrong. So many tests are normal and I'm so confused.

I've had blood tests which have all been normal other than a Vitamin D deficiency.

I've had FIT tests. The first in March came positive at 400, the second in August came negative at 5 and I did one yesterday which I am waiting for. I had a sigmoidoscopy which showed haemorrhoids. I'm going to have an outpatient appointment but don't know what will happen.

I've had abdominal ultrasounds which came normal. I was surprised as I had a 21 day period and been seeing bleeding between periods.

I've had ECG scans and chest x rays which were normal and confused me as I am getting excruciating chest pains. They believe I have costochondritis.

I might have a CT scan as I've lost a lot of weight without trying. This symptom has confused me the most. My BMI is under 17 now and it's led to me always feeling tired and freezing cold all the time.

I'm guessing it's unlikely that there's going to be anything wrong. But I feel like I would rather know if other people have had loads of normal tests and then suddenly found out that there's something serious. I know nothing can prepare you for bad news. I feel like if I get bad news, I would be in complete shock as so many tests are normal.

  • I'm shocked. I did a FIT test a few days ago and I didn't see any blood when doing the test and it's come positive at >400. Has this happened to anyone else?

  • It's great to hear the tests you've had so far have brought good news Amelia although I'm sorry to hear you feel something still isn't quite right. This must be very frustrating, even more so now with the results of your latest FIT test, but hopefully the doctors can get to the bottom of this soon.

I do hope some of our members will pop by to offer their thoughts and advice but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I really do hope you're able to get some answers and peace of mind over this soon Amelia.
