bowel cancer

Hi, i am posting to see if anyone else has had similar problems, i am terrified i may have bowel cancer.

i have not noticed any blood in my poo but there is a really strong smell when i go to the toilet, it smells lke metal

i have neen googling this and it says it sounds like blood in my poo.

i do have  health anxiety and i did an online consultation form to my gp explaining the smell and he said it was not concerning at all with no blood there and it could be what i am eating.

i did have this problem many years ago ,but it went away but i cant help worrying, thanks for any replies.

    Hello pumpkinzz, 

    It's good that you flagged your concerns with your GP who didn't sound alarmed that there was this metallic smell you described. It is reassuring that there are no other symptoms and that you haven't noticed any blood. I think it is all the more important as you suffer from health anxiety that you keep well away from the temptation to look things up online as this will only make you feel more anxious and will not provide reliable answers. You did well to talk to your GP who can give you expert advice on the matter and you could also mention your tendency to suffer from health anxiety as your doctor will also be able to give you some good suggestions to help you overcome this.
