Is it likely I have lymphoma

Hello. I am 16 years old. I've had recurring tonsillitis over a dozen times in a year. This has caused my lymph node to swell. My left lymph node has been swollen for months now. Recently I went out in the cold and the next day my left lymph node grew massive and so did my left tonsil. My swollen lymph node and tonsils are painless. I have been to the hospital and they referred me for a biopsy on 3 weeks. Since I went out and caught a cold, I've been having a fever for the past couple days. Today I took 1000mg paracetamol before bed and didn't cover myself at all to ensure I wouldn't get a high temperature. I woke up about 2 hours later with my bed sheets absolutely drenched in sweat and my body soaking wet. I have never sweated like this. Like it was as if I had poured a bucket of water onto myself in bed. I definitely did not have a high temperature and was not covered so I don't understand why I would sweat this much. I have read and these are the symptoms of lymphoma. I am absolutely terrified as I am only 16 years old. Was also wondering if lymphoma is curable and what the chance are of being fully cured.

  • Hello Dazzlema12 and a big welcome to our forum,

Poor you that's a lot of times you have had tonsilitis and you have had to deal with swollen lymph nodes for a while now. You did well to go to the hospital and the waiting game now for biopsy results must be rather stressful.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as there are so many things that could explain your symptoms including those night sweats other than lymphoma. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. As you are waiting for your results, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

I hope you feel better soon. Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
