Throat cancer worry

I've had ongoing sore throat now for around 6 weeks. Throat feels raw and burning. Some days it's ok but I would say at least 5/7 it's painful. Some days I have a lump so bad that all I do is swallow. It always feels scratchy and it's usually only on one side. 
 

have totally lost my appetite through worry  and am convinced it's going to be something awful (I'm 46)  

Saw ENT Tuesday  he put camera down and said he couldn't see anything worrying but larynx looked a little inflamed and he wants to send me for MRI asap.

Please put my mind at rest And tell me there are other things other than C that can cause my pain.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems at the moment . It's understandable that you're feeling worried but good to know that the Consultant didn't have any immediate cause for concern. 

    Have they given you any indication about how long you may need to wait for the MRI and subsequent results? Hopefully, it won't be too long before they have some answers and can start to tackle whatever is causing your problems. 

    We know that waiting for tests and results can be a difficult period for many people. It can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it useful to chat with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your next appointment.
