Wait for biopsy results

Hi everyone, I found a lump I'm my right breast a couple of weeks ago, I've seen the doctor who referred me to the breast clinic ,I had a mamagram and ultrasound on Friday, she took 3 biopsys of the lump and 2 from my lymph node under my right armpit .I'm now waiting for my results ,been told to ring Friday if I don't hear anything .Is it more likely to be cancer with having the lump and a lump in my lymph  nodes to .my anxieties are through the roof with worry .Thanks for reading.

  • Hi jolamine, had my results today .I've got lodular breast cancer .it's aprox 35mm x 34mm .Got to have a mri scan in 1 to 2 weeks to confirm size of area and check the other breast and this will help determine what surgery I have .Then will have a lumpoctomy and radiotherapy for 5 days .When I have the surgery I have to have a sentinel lymph node biopsy. X

  • So sorry to hear this but as scary as it all seems to you take one thing at a time and you will  be ok  .. I had the lumpectomy  and also the sentinel node biopsy which was done in theatre I'm sure they explained to you what it is and what it means   .. I found out my cancer was the aggressive grade 3 but still wasn't spread anywhere  I got my cancer grade 5 weeks after the lumpectomy  you take care and please  keep in touch with me and I'm here if you think of anything I can help you with xxx

  • I'm so very sorry. It's just awful.

Now you have a plan, just try to lean in to it day by day and trust the process. You really are in safe hands.

Then when you come out the other side, it might hit you as you begin to process the enormity of what you've been through. That's when I really recommend chatting with McMillan.

I wish you well and send you lots and lots of healing vibes. Again, I'm truly sorry x

  • Hi SD70,

I am so sorry to hear this. I know that this is not the news you wanted, but it is all 'doable'. The MRI and sentinel lymph lobe biopsy are more or less routine in these cases. I have had both a lumpectomy and a double mastectomy and, the thought of the procedures were far worse than the actual operations.

It is good to hear that you are hormone receptor positive and that nothing has been found in youur axillae. Unfortunately, this means more waiting for the MRI, but at least you are moving to a way forward and your radiotherapy sessions won't last for too long.

I hope that all goes well with your MRI and that nothing is found in your other breast. I'm always here for a chat any time you have a 'wobble'.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou jolamine ,I'm OK at the moment ,more worried for my husband and children going thru this. But I'm sure when it's time for the operation It will hit me .I've stopped my hrt today so don't no how long it will take for the menopause to kick in .I'm just taking 1 day at a time. Xx

  • Thankyou  I've stopped the hrt today so don't no how long it will take for the menopause to kick in .I've been so focused on how this will effect my kids and husband ,I'm sure when it's time for my operation that reality will hit .xx
