If possible take someone with you and write down at questions you would like to ask.

The support wil be great regardless of the news as it is a difficult time, stress and anxiety do make us forget what we wanted to ask/say.

A face-to-face appointment doesn't necessarily mean they think it's likely to be bad news. I was once told the oncologist would phone me and then got a letter giving me a face-to-face appointment, so of course, I thought they'd found something bad unexpectedly. They hadn't. The result was all clear.

It probably is exactly what she said, that she thought you were anxious and is concerned that it might cause additional anxiety if you were to get a phone call earlier than you expected, etc.

I also agree with DeeDee46. If you can, bring somebody with you. It's always good to have somebody who can confirm that yes, you did hear correctly because it's very easy to start second-guessing yourself afterwards.

I expect your consultant's thoughts were that it would spare you anxiety to have a definite date for the results and not to be having two weeks where you're constantly dreading/hoping for a phone call.

I can breathe a sigh of relief. Biopsy confirmed the lump is a Fibroadenoma, with some calcifications, but all benign. I am now discharged and very thankful.
