Raised ca125 level and heavy periods

Hi,

I'm not really sure on the point of this post however I suppose I'm just trying to find some hope. I'm 28 with two young children. In April this year I had a miscarriage. Every month after my period has been really heavy, soaking through sanitary towels and I've been experiencing large clots. I put it down to the miscarriage and that I always had heavy periods plus being a little overweight still from my second baby. Anyway I went to the doctor to talk about a coil, mentioned this to her and she sent me for blood tests. My ca125 level came back at 48 and I've been put on a 2 week referral for an ultrasound to see what's happening. My scan is on Wednesday and as much as I'm trying to keep positive and busy I can't help but think the worst. The waiting is awful and I'm petrified I won't be able to see my boys grow up.

Any similar positive stories?

Thanks in advance x

  • Hello Rach0228 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

First of all I am so sorry to hear about the miscarriage you had in April - this must have been rather traumatic for you and it sounds like after that you have started having these heavy periods. You did well to mention all this to your doctor and it's now a matter of waiting to find out what is causing this but waiting can be so hard as many of our members will know only too well. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I thought I would mention another member I've just come across and responded to, [@Sophie.W] who posted this thread and who has also been experiencing heavy bleeding recently and finds herself in a similar position at the moment waiting to see the gynaecologist and find out what it might be. It can help to talk to others who are going through something similar so don't hesitate to reply on her thread if you wish.

Hopefully others who've been in a similar place before will also be along shortly to share their experience with you and I keep everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,
