Lump in neck

Hi i just wanted post this to see if anybodys had anything similar to me, I am a 25 year old male, I dont smoke and i barely drink i have the odd night out and maybe one or 2 while sports is on but thats rare and i dont do drugs and i have found a lump in the right side of my neck its quite deep in the neck, its not a big lump and i noticed it about a month ago now and doesnt seem to have changed in size but its still there, i have been the doctors and they reckon its a lymph node i will be having blood tests soon.

The lump is quite small and does seem to move back and forward slightly with my finger but can not move side to side, it is a painless lump and you cant even see it, the only way i can feel it is if i look to the right and feel my neck, if i look straight on i can not feel it at all.

I have no symptoms at all, Im not losing weight randomly however i do go the gym but iv maintained my weight, I dont get night sweats and I dont feel weak or tired all the time except from when i finish work i feel a bit tired but i dont feel extremely tired and weak so I feel perfectly fine. I obviously did the worst thing and googled it like a idiot haha so started panicing however i started to worry less and less now and only writing this to see if anybody has got anything similar and to see what there lump was whether it was serious or not.

Thank you and i hope everyones in best health

  • Hello stokelad1863 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

It sounds like your doctor is not overly concerned which is reassuring but I can understand you are still worried especially as you are still waiting to have your blood tests. I hope it all goes well and that you find out more soon.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online as this will only make you panic even more as you have found out for yourself. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • My brother in law had a lump on his neck for years - refused to see a doctor until it eventually became a very painful absess! But nothing worse.

I had one six months ago - I used a warm compress on it and then did some very gentle massage. It went away after about three weeks. I don't know if what I did helped or whether it would have gone away on its own.
