I'm a young girl, under the age of 16. I have suffered many symptoms of colon cancer, lower back pain, and dark red rectum bleeding.I'm so scared please someone offer advice.
Hi sorry that you are experiencing these symptoms. These can be caused by so many things like haemorrhoids (I had those symptoms and weight loss and mine turned out to be haemorrhoids!). Colon cancer is more common in older people so it is unlikely that you will have it.
It is important to ask an adult in your family to contact the GP so they can find out what the cause is. You'll probably have a telephone appointment first and then a face to face appointment.
It is helpful to write down any important information (symptoms, when they started, if anything makes them worse, family history etc) beforehand as it is usually a 10 minute appointment so it is easy to forget stuff during the appointment.
Have you spoken to your GP? As Freya said, these symptoms can be caused by many things and at your age, colon cancer would be extremely unlikely. I have read that it generally takes about 10 years for a polyp to develop to the point that it becomes cancerous and even polyps would be unusual at your age.
