Worried & Stressed

Hi to everyone

I recently sent off a bowel cancer screening test at beginning of Sept due to various symptoms and it seems the  Doctors have the results but they have not given them me only to say that I need to have some more blood tests done including full blood count  liver  kidney etc  then they have booked me a phone consultation with Doctor as he then wants to discuss my results with me.

Worried what they have found and why they wont tell me the results of what they found prior to blood results. Ontop of this my mum has been diagnosed with skin cancer and recently lost a family member to cancer .

Just to hear someone say its routine and all will be ok and worrying over nothing would mean alot.

Thank you.

  • Hi

Sorry you are going through all this worry.

Different doctors/gp's seem to have different ways of doing things, always seems to be wait wait wait, while every day we wait is like a month to us.

Maybe they are doing all the tests together so they can be 100% sure before they discuss results.

After my bowel cancer I have had many scares, where I was convinced it was back, went through hell many times.

The old saying 'no news is good news' seems to explain the long wait sometimes.

It maybe too that you are thinking the worst because of the other cancer issues affecting your family.

If you have a bleeding polyp, piles or a tear when you do the screening, it will come back positive so the other tests will help the gp decide if you need any further tests like a colonoscopy.

I hope you get your answers soon and that it is good news. All the best to your Mum too x

  • Thank you so much for your reply, it's really big help. Part of me does think the same it could be a tear, or  something then on other hand it might be more. I cant win.

I think I just got to keep my mind busy and think positive, cant change anything what will be will be.

I think you're also right that I'm possibly worrying more because of my mum  Thank you for the well wishes.

Big help, sending all my best to you too. Take care.
