  • I went through exactly the same thing and was extremely worried, so I do understand. My lump turned out to be a breast cyst. I got my first one in my forties and I was told it is very common for women of this age particularly those who are perimenopausal. Sadly I have had lots since and continue to get them now (I actually have quite a lot now).

My cysts do tend to appear overnight. Im not sure whether cancerous lumps can come quickly or not. I understand why you are so worried, but please try not to as it may well be something else. I hope with all my heart that it turns out to be nothing serious, but remember even if it is, our doctors and nurses are amazing and it sounds like you have discovered the lump quickly. My husband is currently being treated for cancer and his care has been fantastic so far. Xx

  • its so reassuring to hear this . i am breast feeding my 1 year old and all i can think is how would my baby cope without the breast and also her mum plus my other 2  . i am so irrational, even bought a fireladder once as i worried we would have a fire ( not done the drill i dont think the neighbours want to see kids climbing out of the bedrooms windows ) i mean im that much of a worrier . I really am glad in your case it was not serious and i pray to god mines the same .

  • Hi again,

I suffer with anxiety too, so I know exactly where you're coming from. With the stress of waiting for my biopsy I've been signed off work as I can't cope with the pressure at this time. I also have a 12 year old, so I totally relate to the 'what if...how will they cope without me' etc. All I can say is in the waiting I try to keep vaguely distracted, for me going for walks really helps- just being outside and seeing nature etc.

So I was referred on the two week pathway to have my lump assessed and in the same day I had a mammogram where they couldn't pick anything up, and then an ultrasound, and when I showed them exactly where the lump was they could see it on the ultrasound. The Dr said it looks like a fibroadenoma, but as it's a new lump they need to biopsy it to be sure. I'm now waiting , had one week and been told it will be at least a two week wait.

Dr Google is petrifying, so we should probably stay off it!

But there are so many reasons for lumps. Is yours squashy/ moveable? Cysts are very common, so it could be that.

Stay strong , you're not on your own. X

  • i have woken up a little bit more optomistic . I have stayed off google!!!! .... its squishy feels like veiny but my breasts are veiny and have been since pregnancy however thats also a symptom ive since learnt so now im doubting if they were even though i know they were lol .

I went to the doctors a few weeks ago over my intrusive thoughts on death its been since i had my little one, i love all my children but she was so longed for as i didnt think i could have more and lost one prior the thought of leaving her kills me . My partner isnt very supportive and no one understands the situtation, Its so nice to hear from people in my situation and not feel like a complete loony because im not haha .

My doctor didnt give me timescales any info just , it should be ok as very small ... its really not small as for does it move im not sure it does but its not a ball so not sure if its the tissue moving with the lump if that makes sense x
